In 1983, a delightful little illini_girl wrote her first letter to Santa. Now, this letter may have been a ploy by my parents to lead me to believe it was going to Santa, when it actually was addressed to our house. . . Also, it may have looked more like hieroglyphics rather than an actual letter. . . but come on, Santa knew what I was talking about!
Here was the envelope with my whereabouts blocked out. . . Santa must have been excited to receive such an amazing portrait of himself on the outside of his envelope!!!

Here was the inspiring letter inside the envelope:

BEFORE you judge. . . I had just turned three less than two months earlier. Also, being left-handed and having a name that is the same forwards and backwards (yes, a palindrome, kids), I tended to write things backwards and start some of my words from right to left. . . (Hey, it worked for my name, right?) Yes, even given these issues, this jibberish still doesn’t make sense.
And there was also this folded gem in the envelope. Um, at least all the letters are there, right? Getting them in order is overrated. Santa knows my name, for goodness sakes!

Santa already purchased my present for this year! Thank you, Santa!
i’ve missed you, illini_girl! glad you’re back
and i love this little blast from the past. too cute.

Look at how greedy you were – sending out your letter before Thanksgiving. Santa should have sent the letter back and focused on less greedy and innocent children (me, and maybe the Duggars) first.

I never knew you were left-handed! My third year of teaching, almost half my class was left-handed. Statistically, almost impossible! It was the most well-behaved, smartest group I think I had. Now I am the mom of a left-hander

I have to agree – Nov 16 is pretty early – were you worried about your letter getting lost in the mail? Does Santa even accept wish lists prior to Dec 1? I am another lefty and have always had horrible penmanship, so your letter looks great to me….
p.s. I am still waiting for the last second shot, to be shot, what a throw up in your mouth way to end a great game…
